Fequently Asked Questions.

Is your home sleep test covered by insurance?

Home Sleep Health is a private pay service provider that does not contract with insurance companies. However, if you compare our cash price versus the cost of using your insurance, you may often find that we save you money. With high deductible plans, you may end up owing several thousand dollars after seeing your primary, getting a referral to see a physician to order the test, being forced to do an in-lab test and then getting your CPAP. With Home Sleep Health, you can get tested, consult our sleep physicians from home and then get your CPAP for half the “TOTAL” cost in many cases. Also, many insurances will accept our test as an out-of-network claim that may be applied towards your deductible and all of our services qualify for payment with FSA or HSA accounts.

What is the benefit of using Home Sleep Health instead of doing an in-lab sleep test?

Home Sleep Health provides our customers the opportunity to take an accurate FDA-cleared multi-night sleep test in the comfort of their own bed versus spending the night in an uncomfortable sleep lab with a stranger watching you on a camera.  In addition, if you are positive in an in-lab test they will often make you come back a second time to do a titration test for your CPAP.  If you are positive with our test, you can then be prescribed an Auto-Titrating CPAP and not have to spend any additional nights at the sleep lab.

Why is multi-night testing important while doing a sleep test?

There is substantial data proving that multi-night testing improves accuracy versus single night testing. Your sleep can vary from one night to the next, so it makes perfect sense that two nights of testing providing more data is better than one.

How does the cost of your home sleep test compare to other online sleep testing companies?

Our home sleep test is less costly than most. In addition, we provide greater value with our multi-night testing which provides two nights of testing for the cost of one. Also, you may keep your device for additional testing of up to 100 hours of data at a substantially reduced cost.

How does the cost of a Home Sleep Health test compare to an in-lab sleep test?

On average,in-lab testing has a cash price of around $3,000.  Our test costs only $185 - $249.

What if I have questions about your home sleep test?

You can reach a helpful and knowledgeable customer service rep by calling our number.

Do I need a prescription for a home sleep test?

You do not need a prescription for a home sleep test but do require one for a CPAP therapy machine.  As previously stated, you may obtain a prescription for CPAP therapy by doing a telehealth consult with our Board-Certified Sleep Specialist who will write the prescription for you if needed.

Why does Home Sleep Health use the NightOwl home sleep test?

The NightOwl homesleep test provides the latest advancements in sleep testing technology along with the most convenient delivery system. The NightOwl offers the ability to do multi-night testing (we allow two nights) so that we receive more data for our sleep physician to review.

How do I get a CPAP machine if I’m positive for sleep apnea with your test?

If you have a positive home sleep test with Home Sleep Health, we provide you the ability to set up a telehealth consult with our Sleep Physician to review your sleep test and provide a prescription for CPAP therapy if needed.

What is the benefit of using Home Sleep Health versus other online home sleep testing companies?

Home Sleep Health provides a streamlined end-to-end process that utilizes the latest in home sleep testing technology.  We are fast, efficient, and most importantly, we offer a multi-night test (2 nights) for the price of one that provides our sleep doctors more data to review. You may also keep your device for future testing at a substantially reduced cost.

How long does your home sleep test take?

After you place your online order, we will ship you the home sleep test within the next two days.  After you conduct your two nights of testing, we will email you your sleep test results and report within the next five business days. You will havea diagnosis in about a week.

How do I know if I need to test for sleep apnea?

A good way to know is by doing our online automated sleep quiz (click here for quiz) or any other screening tool provided by your doctor.  However, our screening tool does not replace the advice you may receive from a doctor so you may also purchase an initial sleep consultation with our Board-Certified sleep physician to review your symptoms (click here for online consultation).

Can I use your home sleep test to see if my CPAP machine is working?

YES!!  The NightOwl only needs your fingertip to conduct the sleep test and has no airflow cannulas or breathing requirements that can get in the way of your CPAP mask. You may wear your CPAP and conduct the NightOwl home sleep test at the same time without any problems.
